The Sorrows of Young Werther by Johann Wolfgang von Goethe

Genre: Romance + Classic

About: It is written in the classic 1900s language by Sir Goethe, the Romantic, himself. Initially when you look at the cover you'll go, Oh, its about sex. But look closer. Its more about unfulfilled desire. The longing to love, to touch the person you look up to as a goddess, that is the gist of the story.

My Review: Werther's passion for Lotte is overwhelming. You can choose to see him as a lunatic who is obsessed with loving Lotte or someone who pledges his undying love & seize every opportunity to fall in love again with, to see her... I cried! Yes! I cried in the end. I did not expect it to be so heart wrenching... *sob* You read it to find out. You will secretly, in the corner of your hearts, wish for someone like Werther to be the man you'll ever want to know. :)

My Rating: 4.5/5

Quote: "That man's life is only a dream has occured to many, and this feeling constantly accompanies me everywhere as well. When I observe the restrictions that lock up a person's active & probing powers, when I see how all activity is directed toward achieving the satisfaction of needs that in turn have no goal but to prolong our miserable existence, and that all reassurance about certain points of inquiry is only a dreaming resignation, since one paints with colorful figures and airy views the walls within which one sits imprisoned - all that ... makes me mute. I withdraw into myself and find a world!"
